I am so pleased with Burke's training session this morning ... she is really starting to come along well. Tons of enthusiasm, maybe a little too much 'throw myself at this' but we're working on that. Doing a full-size teeter now, doesn't bat an eye at any bangs, weavepoles coming along nicely, footwork is looking really good, she keeps herself very low in the poles which I like to see. Focus is coming along ... just very cool !
Winter hit Calgary again last night ...why does that have to happen anyway?

Agility class tonight - Burke's favourite night of the week I think! Had a major moment (IMO anyway!). She did 4 sets of weavepoles with only the 1st & last pole with wires. Only sets of 6 though, so maybe not SUPER major, but I was pretty pleased anyway! A couple of those I was way behind her too, and she found her entrance all by herself. Because I took some wires off, I made sure it was a pretty straightforward entrance, but still ... baby steps but steps nonetheless!

Burke (aka Burko, Burkmeister or just BURKE!!) is such a character ... always entertaining, sometimes very irritating ... training is progressing well, she picks things up very quickly. We are in a Obedience Foundations class right now, not working TOO TOO hard on that stuff, as there is always time down the road for that. It is just good for her to learn FOCUS ... that is HARD for her! But she is doing awesome. I took her to a handling class yesterday, and the instructor inadvertently gave me what I consider a HUGE compliment, without really meaning to. After one of our down-and-backs, she said she wished all the dogs were as into their handler as Burke was ... and that is one of the things I really want my dogs to be. She is so social, sometimes it is hard to see, but she is really starting to connect with me. Agility class is on hiatus right now until mid-Feb, so we are working on our own, starting to see some really good stuff. Contact performance is getting more solid, not 100% by ANY means but she is starting to understand her job. Need to do some teeter work but I have to do that at home and right now there is still too much snow in the yard. She is starting to look for jump standards even if I am not right there, starting to follow some body position. Long ways to go, but definitely some fun things!
